Realistic CG production of print images and an animation of the popular soft toys of Steiff GmbH
Margarete Steiff GmbH, based in Gingen at the Brenz, is a manufacturer of worldwide distributed high-quality toys, especially teddy bears and other soft toys. Different pictures and animations of two well-known plush animals were created. The soft toys were first scanned with a Kinect camera from Microsoft to get the rough shape.
On this basis, realistic 3D models were created, rigged and posed for later animation. A special challenge was the realistic representation of the hair, the fur of the fabric figures respectively. Afterwards, one of the soft toys was animated by motion capture and brought to life.
