Low poly modeling of the complete powertrain of the Porsche 911 (992)
Porsche shows not only the exterior and interior of the car in its AR Visualizer app, but also the complete powertrain. For this, we reduced a technology dataset with 200 million polygons to a low poly AR model with 150 thousand polygons.
In doing so, we created a low poly AR model that can run on mobile devices. An extraordinary achievement to present an extraordinary vehicle and its technology.

Porsche not only trusts our years of experience with the technology of their vehicles, but also our special expertise in preparing even the most complicated geometries for AR applications in a highly performant and visually outstanding way. The challenge was to reduce a data set from Porsche's vehicle development so that it could be run in a mobile AR application on a cell phone. The original data set consisted of all individual parts of the drivetrain down to the last screw. Engine, transmission, front axle gearbox and the axles with all chassis components.
Together, these are about 200 million polygons, which are difficult to process even on powerful graphics workstations. With a team of 4 we reduced the models by hand so that we ended up with about 150 thousand polygons. The models had only their rough outer shell and were provided with various textures again with detail.
