Employee training in VR for learning at manual workstations
Continental AG has so-called manual workstations in some places on its production lines, where employees have to carry out certain work processes in order to inspect parts and equip machines.
In order to prepare new employees well for the complex work steps in the production line and thus reduce waiting times and sources of errors, the workplace was digitally recreated so that the necessary work steps can be learned "playfully" in virtual reality. The employee can pick up components, look at them and place them in the designated device. The digital twin behaves like the real working environment, only with the advantage that you can't break anything and practice again and again.
In addition to the normal training mode, there is also the “instructor mode”, in which a virtual teacher demonstrates the steps. This way even the instructor can be virtualized.
A menu with time measurement guides you through the application so that you have a reference of how long it took to complete the workflow. In addition, the externally adjustable error frequency can maximize mindfulness in virtual training.
